The Pheasant Tail is one of the older and more venerable patterns in fly fishing, originally developed in England as a nymph. This dry fly is a useful prospector and, according to one our reviewers, very productive as a spinner or hatching mayfly. The parachute post makes the Pheasant Tail visible and the horizontal hackle lets the fly sink deeper into the film. Think you have a great rusty spinner pattern? Give this a try during a sulphur spinner fall! Not only does it have a great silhouette but you can SEE it unlike other spinner patterns!
